Sequatchie Cove Farm Ride By Velo Coffee

The Ride

The ride starts with coffee at Velo where participants have the option to transport gear ahead of them by vehicle OR to pack and carry it on their bike. Leaving in small groups, each with an experienced leader, riders head toward Suck Creek Mountain in a casual, anti-race pace. With check points built into the route, participants are ensured that they will always have a riding partner if desired. Checkpoints also offer the opportunity for riders to rehydrate, rest or to potentially receive mechanical assistance for their bike.

Expect a short jaunt through downtown Chattanooga and up Signal Mountain Blvd, followed by a long, steady climb up Suck Creek Mountain. The remainder of the ride through Sequatchie Valley takes us through Powell's Crossing, by Kettner's Mill and through sprawling, picturesque farmland.

While the majority of the route is on quiet country roads, the section from the Red Bank Tunnel to the base of Suck Creek Mountain can be intimidating. We are not going to sugar-coat it, the entirety of Signal Mountain Blvd. sucks, but we will do our best to avoid busy sections.

We recommend riding a bike that you’re comfortable on and preferably one with adequate gearing for the Suck Creek Mtn. climb.

The Destination

The roughly 35-mile country road route leads us ultimately to Sequatchie Cove Farm where participants can enjoy a dip in a swimming hole, a tour of the farm, camping accommodations and two farm-made meals.

The grassy, creek-side campsite is flat and large enough for everyone to pitch a tent. Hammock users have a few options, but tents are recommended. There is a privy conveniently located at the campsite. Firewood is also provided by our hosts. While your ticket includes cold drinks at the destination, participants are encouraged to bring beverages with them to Velo to be transported by car via cooler to the campsite.

The Food

Dinner is provided by the Farm- Please notify us of any dietary restrictions prior to the trip.

The next morning, riders will enjoy coffee from Velo and a farm-made breakfast before departing again as a group with the support of a vehicle.
