Fall Migration Birding with Richard Candler- October 8th

  • Sequatchie Cove Farm 310 Dixon Cove Road Sequatchie, TN, 37374 United States (map)

Autumn is a great time of year to find exciting migrants. Many birds are on the move and pass through this area while the first winter birds are beginning to arrive. October is a good time to look for unusual rarities and vagrants and it’s also just a nice time to be outside!

There will be a two-hour walk followed by discussion with coffee and snacks.

A pair of binoculars is essential for this class. This is a farm so be prepared to chase birds through briars and mud. Sensible shoes recommended as well as a hat, sunscreen, and bug spray.

Richard Candler is the coauthor of Birding Sewanee: a guide to birding the South Cumberland Region.

October 8th, 8:00am- 11:00 Central time zone. In the event of rain, the class will be moved to Saturday, October 21st as a rain date.

***We have 2 full Scholarship spots available in this class for individuals under the age of 18 who are interested in getting into birding or who are new to birding and would like to increase their knowledge.
